Store Sales Lead – Tacoma Art Museum

Summary of Position

Tacoma Art Museum (TAM) seeks an energetic and approachable lead to assist with general operations of the Museum Store and assist in on-going store-focused projects. Ideal candidates will have a background in team leadership and customer service, be able to maintain a positive attitude under stress, and have an enthusiastic and amiable demeanor. This position will need to have an in depth understanding of products, featured artists, guests and TAM’s mission to make art accessible to the community. The Store Lead will assure accurate cash handling/reconciliation, conduct high-end sales, track inventory and prepare reports.

Responsibilities

  • General operations of the store including opening/closing store, merchandising, cash handling/reconciliation, and conducting high-end sales through point of sale system
  • Prepare monthly/consignment reports as needed
  • Ongoing usage of QuickBooks
  • Daily housekeeping in maintaining the appearance of the store
  • Assist with construction of TAM Store Shopify and provide support for successful deployment
  • Provide gracious, knowledgeable service with customers and create a welcoming atmosphere
  • Track inventory including receiving against purchase orders and restocking
  • Oversee the shipping and handling of products
  • Assist manager with troubleshooting and other store-related projects
  • Assist in training staff and ensure that team members are fulfilling expected duties
  • Coordinate marketing efforts for the store, i.e., product photography, related writings, webpage updates, and social media efforts
  • Perform creative and proactive problem-solving and resolution of visitor and staff issues
  • Identify areas for improvement and create solutions
  • Follow protocol and procedure for incidents and medical emergencies

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Customer service, retail experience with at least one-year supervisory experience
  • Cash handling expertise and inventory knowledge
  • Solid organization and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to team approach and ability to collaborate openly
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with computer systems
  • Strong communication skills (written, oral, visual)
