MoPop EDUCATION SPECIALIST, YOUTH AND COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

POSITION SUMMARY
As a member of the Education & Programs team at MoPOP, the Education Specialist, Youth and Community Programs, oversees programs including the Youth Advisory Board, Teen Artist Workshops and camps, the Hip Hop Artist Residency, and other programs that serve the youth audience. This position works directly with youth, families, community‐based organizations, partner organizations, and schools to increase access to the museum and to facilitate innovative, creative learning experiences.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED)
- Collaborate with education and public programming team members and other museum staff to design, develop and support programs that engage youth and community audiences.
- Event planning, marketing, and outreach of youth-focused events and educational experiences.
- Manage budgets for existing and new projects.
- Develop programming, organize, and facilitate the Youth Advisory Board (YAB), Teen Artist Workshops, the Hip Hop Artist Residency, and other programs as assigned.
- Recruit and contract with partner organizations, artists, and outside vendors to present teen experiences throughout the school year and summer.
- Manage community outreach to develop new partnerships, maintain existing partners, and increase access to museum programs for youth visitors
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS)
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; 3+ years experience in a museum or non‐profit arts education environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple programs simultaneously; detail-oriented and highly organized
- Previous experience working with teens and school-aged youth; some classroom or educational facilitation experience preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; public speaking experience a plus
- Professional experience in partnership projects
- Interest in social justice and equity
- Passion for a variety of popular culture genres with particular interest in music
- Proficient in MS Office Suite of products

SALARY RANGE (dependent on experience)
$42,000-$48,500
