Summer Activity Camp Pottery Instructor (Alki)

The Associated Recreation Council (ARC), in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is recruiting for a Summer Activity Camp Pottery Instructor. The Activity Camp Pottery Instructor must be able to plan age appropriate activities for 10-15 year old students. Experience in teaching pottery specifically is required. Must have enough experience on a pottery wheel to be able to provide demonstrations and work with students one-on-one for wheel thrown pieces. The studio is a shared space, so classes must emphasize tidiness and respect for other peoples’ work. Other tasks include loading, firing, and unloading the kiln. Five hours per week of additional planning time is allowed for these task.

Location: Alki Community Center

Schedule: late June – late August; 9-10 weeks; Mondays – Fridays from 1:00pm-4:00pm; 20 hours per week

Pay rate: $19 – $22 Hourly

Requirements:

  • Complete experience with pottery as described above
  • Experience working with kids 10 – 15 years old at varies skill levels
  • Ability to manage, create and lead activities
  • Experience managing a group of kids
  • Over the age of 21 years old
  • If hired, must pass criminal background check, provide valid government-issued ID and proof of eligibility to work in the US, must be willing to obtain First Aide/CPR certification
