Summary:
The Friends of the Troll’s Knoll, in partnership with Laboratories 75, invites sculptors to submit qualifications to create a permanent, outdoor turtle sculpture at the east side Troll’s Knoll. The east side Troll’s Knoll is a 1-acre urban forest next to the Fremont Troll in Seattle, WA. The goal of this project is to foster community engagement and invite exploration of the green space surrounding the Fremont Troll, which is a landmark beloved by locals and tourists alike, and visited by tens of thousands of people every year.
Project details:
● Sculptor to create and install a turtle from cement, concrete or stone no less than 3 feet long
● Artwork must be able to hold up to the elements (rain/ snow), and be secured to deter theft
● Once completed, the turtle will be covered in moss and featured in an outdoor installation whose aim is to celebrate the Earth
● Sculptor will be credited for their work at the site and in publicity
