Pratt Fine Arts Center is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Sculpture Technician to join its dynamic team.

The Sculpture Technician is responsible for the maintenance and support of the Sculpture studios including: maintaining equipment and supplies, planning and facilitating changes to studio design/function, and participation in non-program events as they pertain to the Sculpture Department. The Technician works directly with the Metal & Stone Studio Manager, coordinators and any contractual labor hired for studio related work. The position requires ongoing leadership of maintenance activities in the Metal and Stone Studios, and as needed technical support for the Wood Studio. The Sculpture Technician also actively participates as a member of the Facilities Committee, contributing to the overall maintenance of Pratt facilities, campus-wide.

Essential Job Functions
● Determine maintenance repair priorities and schedules
● Ensure regular inspection of sculpture studio equipment and facilities to identify maintenance and repair needs
● Communicate and enforce studio policies, procedures and standards to instructors, students and renters
● Work with sculpture studio instructors to ensure a positive experience for the students by maintaining equipment, general appearance of studios and necessary supplies.
● Work with studio manager to establish annual department budget, and to maintain financial accountability in these areas
● Plan and implement capital improvements within departmental studios
● Work with other staff to plan studio related special events
● Ensure maintenance of SDS resource binder(s), safety and hazmat needs for the studio
● Participate in and assist in development of cross training programs in order to gain overall knowledge of workplace function and to help cover vacant positions
● Participation in Pratt-wide Facilities Committee meetings, projects and activities
● Drive forklift and process deliveries of supplies for the Metal and Stone Studios
● Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
● 3+ years related experience
● Knowledge of arts organizations or related institutions
● Organizational skills, teamwork and communication skills
● Experience purchasing, maintaining and repairing related equipment
● Proven skills in general maintenance, i.e. mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and welding-specific skill areas preferred
● Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written
● Ability to be trained on the job quickly, efficiently and accurately
● Ability to keep a positive demeanor in a demanding work environment, with an ability to adapt to an evolving organizational structure
● Comfortable working autonomously as well as working in a Team and taking direction
● Valid Driver’s License
● Ability to pass forklift certification (or have existing certification)
● Ability to safely lift 50 pounds
● Competence in serving diverse populations
● Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

Preferred Qualities
● Studio operation budget development and oversight
● Electrical and/or electronics experience
● Welding and metal fabrication skills or experience
● Woodworking skills or experience
● Knowledge of forklift operation or forklift certification

Compensation
Full-time salary range $45,000-50,000 DOE + medical, dental, long-term disability, and paid vacation. Employee-paid short-term disability and retirement programs are provided, but are optional. Also includes generous in-kind benefits in the form of class registrations and studio access.
