SEATTLE’S MUSEUM OF HISTORY & INDUSTRY (MOHAI) ANNOUNCES NEW CURATORS FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
MOHAI’s Curator’s Fellowship invites community and academic historians to bring a new perspective to MOHAI’s extensive collections. The deadline to apply is Jan. 31!
SEATTLE – MOHAI is proud to announce the museum’s new Curator’s Fellowship program, inviting community and academic historians to bring a new perspective to MOHAI’s extensive collections. The program prioritizes research that includes stories of historically marginalized or excluded communities, particularly Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.
The Curator’s Fellow conducts research over six months, including up to 20 hours of research in the MOHAI collections. The Fellow will receive a stipend of $5,000 and present their work as part of MOHAI’s annual lecture series in the Fall where curators and special guests will share new perspectives on MOHAI’s artifacts, exhibits, and stories.
Potential research topics include:
- Centering Native perspectives in artifacts or photographs that appropriate Native art.
- Finding untold stories from the Al Smith Collection, specifically those not featured in MOHAI’s 2017 exhibit Seattle on the Spot: The Photographs of Al Smith.
- Revealing the history of the development of Seattle neighborhoods, particularly those south of the ship canal.
