Creative Hands Art Studio is seeking a team member for part-time pottery instructor and customer service role. Enthusiastic and creative person who loves clay, wheel throw pottery and to be around people.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Instruct pottery classes with integrity
- Keeps the studio organized, clean and safe for instructors and participants
- Able to follow schedule
- Performs minor studio organizational and maintenance tasks and help inventory supplies and alerts studio director when supplies are low
- Assists students with a wide variety of problems and questions
- Packs, Loads and unloads clay and ceramic objects for kiln
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Requires knowledge of making pottery and media, including policies, procedures and equipment
- Ability to work well with children and adults
- Work independently without direct supervision
- Establish and maintain effective working relationship with co-workers, participants and the public.
- Communicate effectively in both oral and written form with external and internal customers
- Functions as a pottery instructor and works to keep their class operational
- Handle sensitive or stressful situations with tact and diplomacy
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High School graduation or GED or related vocational training required
Graduation from a 4 year school with BA/ BFA/MA/ or MFA desirable
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read instructions and communicate with participants. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems, and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Required to regularly stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk and hear. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, push, pull, crawl or withstand extended periods of standing or moving about. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
