UW School of Art + Art History + Design Arts Events and Marketing Internship Position

Description: This internship is offered quarterly 2 credits (if applicable). Some evening + event hours may apply.

 The Arts Events + Marketing Intern will have a unique opportunity to assist in the creation, promotion, and development of the UW School of Art + Art History + Design brand, events and lectures, and relationships with donors, students, and alumni.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist with brand awareness, promotional efforts, and media outreach & coverage. Tasks include:

  • Developing and preparing multimedia content for the School’s social media outlets, including but not limited to: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Vimeo
  • Draft and finalize press releases, as assigned
  • Design/layout communications materials for advancement or marketing purposes
  • Capturing photo & video, editing, and archiving

Assist staff with administrative tasks and events related to broad-based engagement for the School of Art + Art History + Design. Tasks include:

  • Data entry and database maintenance
  • Helping set up and take down events
  • Creating event material
  • Preparing and mailing donor correspondence
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Able to work independently with attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality
  • Understanding of writing for the web and familiar with digital media and social networking tools
  • Competent with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Willingness to learn new technology + database skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Some photography experience
  • Experience in event planning and/or coordination
