Program Manager
Employment status: Full-time (40 hrs./week)
Location: Seattle, WA – During Covid a majority of the work will be done virtually
Reports to: Executive Director
Work schedule: M-F – some evenings and weekends required
Salary: $55,000 – $65,000 – DOE
Urban ArtWorks is a Seattle-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to engage youth and communities in the creation of public art that inspires connections and honors their voices. Scope of Responsibilities
Our youth and community programs are growing, and we are looking for a creative and passionate Program Manager who thrives on wearing multiple hats to join our small but mighty team! This is a new full-time position, and an opportunity to directly and deeply impact the growth of the organization. The Program Manager is the primary point of contact for daily work with Teaching Artists, youth apprentices, community participants, schools, and program partner organizations. This person will work on the development, implementation, supervision and evaluation of our youth and community-based programs. The Program Manager will be committed to youth development and the belief that all people should be valued for their unique life experience. Responsibilities include:
· Actively recruiting, training, supervising, and managing a diverse team of Teaching Artists to support youth and community-based programs.
· Developing customized programs for youth and community engagement
· Creating culturally responsive arts-based curricula
· Cultivating community partner engagement including: outreach to existing and potential partners to maintain and deepen relationships, presentations to partners to increase awareness of programming, regular communications with partner staff, and overseeing the completion of partners’ required documents such as timesheets and evaluations
· Completion and maintenance of teaching artist and program partner contracts
· Developing participant communication strategies including: recruiting new youth participants, electronic, in-person, and phone communications, and building upon current participant handbook
· Documenting and archiving program images, stories, and written materials for social media, grants, and public communications
· Assisting with the development of informational materials for public distribution on Urban ArtWorks’ website, newsletter, and in print.
· Working with ED to enhance program evaluation tools to measure impact, inform, and improve future programs
· Recruiting, training, and managing program volunteers
· Support organizational fundraising goals including assistance with grant writing, fundraising events, and donor communication.
· Additional tasks as necessary inclusive of: participating in all-staff and program-staff meetings, collaborating on day-of tasks for youth program and community participation related events, maintaining/organizing youth program supplies and studio space, supporting community events, cultivating an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for participants, teaching artists, community partners, and programmatic volunteers
Qualifications/Experience
Competitive candidates will possess:
· A belief system aligned with Urban ArtWorks’ values, vision, and mission
· A commitment to helping Urban ArtWorks become an anti-racist organization
· 3+ years supervisory experience in Youth Development, Education, Arts Administration, Non-Profit Management or other fields closely related.
· Experience working for a community-based arts or youth development organization preferred
· Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
· Demonstrated experience hiring, training, supervising and leading a team
· Experience developing arts-based curricula
· Experience nurturing community-based partnerships
· Knowledge of Seattle’s public art scene
· Excellent organizational, administrative, and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple programs simultaneously
· Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to speak publicly with partners, supporters, and the media
· Excellent listening skills
· Ability to think creatively and strategically, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Strong computer skills in standard software Word, Excel, PowerPoint- Creative suite knowledge in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator preferred
· Ability to use a variety of social media tools including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
· A self-motivated work ethic and an interest in learning and growing within the position and the organization
