Seattle Art Museum Summer Internships

Seattle Art Museum is currently accepting applications for 2023 Summer internships. We have an exciting lineup of paid opportunities this year, all available on our Careers page.

Current openings include:

Emerging Arts Leader, Curatorial

Partnering with the Curator of African Art and Curator of Oceanic Art, this intern will focus on outreach, content development, and coordination of a community advisory panel for an upcoming reinstallation of SAM’s African, Ancient, and Islamic galleries.

 Emerging Arts Leader, Exploratory

This interdisciplinary internship is designed to provide emerging arts leaders from diverse backgrounds with an in-depth understanding of SAM’s operations, programming and audiences. One to two home departments will be chosen based on the intern’s professional or academic experience and career objectives.

There will be 2 Emerging Arts Leader, Exploratory interns hired for this summer, one in Development and one in Education & Public Programs.

Public Engagement Intern, Olympic Sculpture Park

The Public Engagement department seeks an intern to assist with the development, administration, and on-site production of summer programming at Seattle Art Museum. This internship is focused on Summer at SAM, offered Thursday evenings and Saturdays at the Olympic Sculpture Park, and on SAM Remix, the museum’s end of summer party. Summer programs include outdoor concerts, performances, art activities, community partnership, and tours.

 Betty Bowen Award Administration Internship

Under the direction of the Assistant Curator for Modern and Contemporary Art, the Betty Bowen Intern will assist with administration of the Betty Bowen Award, now in its 46th year. This intern will coordinate and attend committee meetings, promote the call for entries, organize artist applications, correspond with artists about the award, manage communication with the Committee, and produce press releases and mailings related to the award.
