Help Tukwila Teens Create, Lead and Connect Through Art
The Tukwila Teen Art Collective (TTAC) is seeking an experienced, creative and community-minded Program Coordinator to guide teens through collaborative art projects, leadership development and meaningful community engagement.
TTAC reflects the City of Tukwila’s commitment to youth arts education and leadership opportunities. The program empowers young people to express themselves, build connections and contribute to Tukwila’s cultural life. The collective grew from the Tukwila Arts Commission’s 2024 Strategic Plan.
Compensation and Contract Term
- $75–$100 per hour, depending on experience
- Approximately 130 contracted hours
- Contract term: September 2026–July 2027
- Opportunity for renewal
The program benefits from consistency and strong relationships, so preference may be given to candidates interested in a long-term commitment to Tukwila youth.
The selected contractor must obtain and maintain liability and automobile insurance that meets City requirements.
Responsibilities
The Program Coordinator will:
- Recruit and conduct outreach to teen participants.
- Plan and facilitate Tukwila Teen Art Collective meetings every other Tuesday.
- Maintain participant records, permissions and documentation in accordance with youth-safety best practices.
- Collaborate with the Tukwila Teen Art Collective Manager and Tukwila Parks & Recreation staff to administer the program.
- Work with the Tukwila Arts Commission to identify potential projects for the collective.
- Guide teens through project visioning, planning, scheduling and completion within the program framework.
- Maintain regular email communication with teen participants.
- Recruit guest artists and coordinate artist visits and workshops.
- Build relationships with community members and organizations that can partner with the collective.
Required Qualifications
- At least one year of experience working with teens.
- At least two years of project-management experience.
- Experience with community outreach, including tabling, relationship-building and collaboration.
- Availability to facilitate collective meetings every other Tuesday from 3–5 p.m.
- Strong group facilitation and interpersonal skills.
- A collaborative approach and openness to others’ ideas.
- Commitment to a “no bad kids” framework and strengths-based youth development.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage timelines, records and administrative responsibilities.
Desired Qualifications
- Connections to Tukwila, South King County or the local arts community.
- Experience working in collectively managed spaces, cooperatives or similar collaborative environments.
- Experience working with immigrant communities and English-language learners.
- Graphic-design experience, including creating flyers and promotional materials.
- Experience as a teaching artist or professional artist.
- Experience coaching, mentoring or supporting others in developing their artistic practice.
