Call for Work – Glazier’s Fall-Seattle

Glazier’s Fall Project

Concept: Glazier’s Fall is a project dedicated to displaying art that explores local social, political, and cultural issues including the urbanization of neighborhoods in Seattle. Artwork will be displayed in the diverse and changing neighborhood of the Central District, contributing to the overall cultural value of the community.

Goals:

  • Convey the social and cultural spirit of Central District and/or urbanization of neighborhoods in Seattle.
  • Provide opportunity for artists beginning her/his career to showcase art.
  • Engage the immediate community with art in underutilized spaces.

Site: Near corner of 20th Avenue and Union Street, interspersed between residences and commercial areas including Katy’s Corner Café. The space for 2D display is approximately 19” wide (48cm), 76” (97cm) tall.

Installation/fabrication: Installation of any 2D artwork of artists’ choice will be supported into a window display with measurements as mentioned in Site. Expected length of display is between 3-6 months, dependent on pending sources of funding.

Eligibility: This call is open to emerging artists (both undergrad/grad) with priority given to those who are dedicated to expressing art related to the social, economic, and environmental changes of Seattle. Individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds highly encouraged to apply.

Budget: Artist may be eligible for reimbursement of expenses relating to creation of artwork pending grant approval.

Selection schedule:

  • Deadline for submissions: April 1, 2017
  • Finalists notified on email: early May, 2017
  • Finalists interviewed by phone to discuss aspects of application: throughout May 2017
  • Selected artist to be notified: May 25, 2017
