Looking ahead to the 2015 season
Dear HMB alumni and friends,
With basketball season behind us, the staff and I are in full swing preparing for the fall. Recently, all departments involved in the Husky football game-day experience recently met for the 2015 kick-off meeting, and I’m thrilled to report that the band is bringing back the team tunnel as part of the pregame show! Coach Pete and the team were adamant that they want this tradition restored. I’m sure many of you are as excited at that news as I am.
The annual HMB fall planning retreat is in mid-May and we have already begun to start brainstorming on halftime show themes—including some that were provided by the students themselves. For the first time in many years, the Huskies have a home game on Halloween, so needless to say there certainly will be a Halloween show! Choosing the theme for that game was a complete no-brainer. We already have some really entertaining themes on the table for discussion at the retreat and I am going to be enormously excited to share them with you in the fall e-newsletter.
There are a couple late summer dates I’d like to remind all of you of. Our annual Husky Football Sneak Preview is on Thursday, August 27, in the Don James Center. Coach Pete thoroughly enjoyed himself last year and is already looking forward to making an appearance; and as always, you can expect some surprise guest speakers! For those of you who are golf enthusiasts, please plan on joining us for the annual Husky Band Alumni Golf Outing on Sunday, August 23, at the beautiful Washington National Golf Club. You need not be an alum of the band to participate, and just as with the Sneak Preview, all proceeds go directly to the band. Updates on both events, including how to pre-register, will soon be available at huskymarchingband.org.
That’s all for now! Browse through the other articles in the e-newsletter for some interesting updates on all things Husky Band. I hope you have a great summer, and I’m looking forward to seeing many of you this fall.
Go Dawgs!
