Alumni spotlight: Huskies Down Under

Rookies Just last fall I shared with you that the membership of the 2014 Husky Band had students from eight different countries; however, Australia was not among them. That’s why I was shocked to find out that six recent HMB alumni have all ended up living within a few miles of each other down in Sydney—and only one of them is Aussie born and raised! Read more.

Staff update

John Curley I’m pleased to announce that Husky Band Graduate Assistant Director Cory Meals has accepted his first collegiate teaching position at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia. Cory has been a doctoral teaching assistant with the HMB since arriving here with his wife, Sarah, in 2012. Read more.

HMB staff additions

John Curley I am thrilled that our former assistant drumline instructor, Steve Henry, has agreed to become our new head instructor! Steve was a member of the HMB drumline from 2004 to 2008, after which he worked with the collegiate drumlines of Florida Atlantic and Florida International Universities. Read more.

Student leadership takes the field

Carol Nishikawa Each spring, the HMB conducts a rigorous interview and audition process to select the Band's student leaders. These dedicated Huskies are critical to the band's success each year. They run sectional rehearsals and help the members of their sections learn all the spots and formations for every pregame and halftime show. Read more.
