Topic: PubMed search techniques

Objectives:

  • To perform author and subject searches in PubMed MEDLINE

  • To use limits to narrow a search to a specific language and time span

  • To save a search strategy that can be re-run in the future

Introduction:

The session will focus on searching MEDLINE using PubMed, produced by the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) interface available free on the internet. Content will include:

  • Overview of MEDLINE database

  • How to search by author or topic

  • Use of limit, history, preview/index and clipboard features

  • Use of the MeSH browser

  • How to display, print and save citations
