  • To have a broad understanding of the technology, benefits, obstacles, issues, possible solutions, and future trends in telehealth in the United States

  • To develop an understanding of how these aspects relate to telemedicine and telehealth in APEC

  • To develop strategies around the use of telemedicine in public health

Introduction:

During this module, health care professionals will receive an introduction of the basic concepts of the utility of using telemedicine and telehealth and how to derive technical requirements for telemedicine or health care systems in clinical and epidemiological settings.

This module will include diverse case studies of the health systems where telemedicine and telehealth are useful tools. The students will understand the importance of designing multiple concepts for system architectures for their own necessities, how to assess each one, and will be able to select one that offers most promise in meeting their particular needs and objectives.
