As director of the Canadian Studies Center, Tony Chan oversees all activities related to course offerings, A native of Victoria, Tony Chan holds a doctorate in history from the York University on Toronto. After a career as a broadcaster, he became a communications professor. He currently teaches classes both on communications and on Canadian society.

As assistant director, Pat writes grant applications and reports, publishes the half-yearly Canadian Studies News and the quarterly journal, New Scholars -- New Visions in Canadian Studies, coordinates Canadian Studies Center programs, and maintains this website.

Pat is a doctoral student in the University of Washington School of Communications, working on a dissertation on Web credibility. She has a background in newspapers and online communications. She holds a master's in science and technology policy from the Research Policy Institute, University of Lund, Sweden, and a bachelor's in English literature from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey (including a semester at Wroxton College, Oxfordshire). She has also created websites for the San Francisco School of Psychology and the Washington Biotechnology Action Council, among others.
