• 9 • Marsha L. Landolt Distinguished Graduate Mentor Award The recipient of the Marsha L. Landolt Distinguished Graduate Mentor Award is Anjum Hajat, Associate Professor, Epidemiology, School of Public Health. Distinguished Librarian Award John Vallier, Curator, Ethnomusicology Archives, Special Collections, University Libraries, is the recipient of the Distinguished LIbrarian Award. University Faculty Lecture Award Noah A. Smith is the recipient of the University Faculty Lecture Award. President’s Medalists Tom McAlister Julia Grace Lee The President’s Medal is presented annually by the University of Washington president to graduating seniors who have achieved the most distinguished academic records in their class. On the Seattle campus, one medal is given to a student who has completed at least three- fourths of their degree requirements at the University of Washington. The other is given to a student who entered the University with at least 60 transfer credits from a Washington community college. This year’s medalists are Julia Grace Lee, of Sammamish,Washington, who is graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Tom McAlister, of Seattle, Washington, who is graduating summa cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts (Art). Excellence in Global Engagement Award The recipient of the Excellence in Global Engagement Award is James Sherrell, Program Specialist, EthnoMed, Harborview Medical Center. David B. Thorud Leadership Award Suzanne Allen, Vice Dean, Academic, Rural & Regional Affairs, School of Medicine, has received the David B. Thorud Leadership Award. Noah A. Smith Ed Lazowska John Vallier Anjum Hajat Distinguished Teaching Legacy Award Edward D. Lazowska, Bill & Melinda Gates Chair Emeritus, Paul G.
