Health and Income Equity
D. Income inequality and social problems, especially violence and homicide, and social cohesion

Braithwaite J, Braithwaite V. The effect of income inequality and social democracy on homicide. British Journal of Criminology 1980; 20 (1): 45-53

This study looks at homicide rates in 31 countries and found strong correlations with different measures of income inequality. The authors then look at whether or not this could be a spurious association, and conclude that a more equal society might be one in which there is less homicide.
