Braithwaite J, Braithwaite V. The effect of income inequality and social democracy on homicide. British Journal of Criminology 1980; 20 (1): 45-53 This study looks at homicide rates in 31 countries and found strong correlations with different measures of income inequality. The authors then look at whether or not this could be a spurious association, and conclude that a more equal society might be one in which there is less homicide. Keywords
