Call for Papers

Istoria is a new online journal devoted to electronically publishing original scholarship on topics in History and related disciplines. Founded and staffed by graduate students in the University of Washington's History department, Istoria's mission is to provide a forum for graduate students to expose their ideas to a broad audience, build their publishing resume, and receive constructive criticism through peer-review.

We are currently accepting submissions for our second issue. Graduate students currently enrolled in any department at the University of Washington are encouraged to submit work provided it contains significant historical content. In addition to articles, conference papers, and dissertation chapters, Istoria welcomes historiographic essays and reviews of recently published monographs.

Authors wishing to publish in Istoria should review the guideline of submission policies and procedures. All submissions must be received no later than April 18, 2008 in order to be considered for publication. If accepted, authors are expected to work with Istoria's editorial board and make requested revisions to their work.

Istoria will not enforce an exclusive copyright on submissions accepted for publication. However, authors should be aware that many journals will not accept work that has been published or is being considered for publication elsewhere. If you plan on submitting your work to another journal, please familiarize yourself with that publication's submission policy before submitting to Istoria.

Any questions concerning the journal, submission guidelines, or copyright issues can be directed to dmsalter@u.washington.edu.
