Its called “Global” warming for a reason

We have all heard about global warming. Politicians, scientists and the media battle daily over this issue. Yet, many seem to forget a key aspect of global warming, the fact that it is global. This is not an individual issue, something a county or state can amend. Not even nationwide activism can solve global warming. To begin a reversal, or in the very least a halt in the destructive path of global warming, the globe as an entirety must participate. Europe has already implemented a great deal of legislation and infrastructure to reduce its global impact, yet the state of our planet has not improved. China leads in emissions from fossils fuels, contributing 30% of the global total. In contrast, the European Union emits only 9%. While Europe has a minimal impact, and their legislation has clearly proved effective, their efforts cannot stop or reverse global warming. China and the United States, first and foremost, need to drastically alter their emissions. However, support needs to also be given to developing countries, like India, to continue their industrialization in an environmentally friendly manner. Individual efforts may prove helpful, yet to truly improve the state of our home, our planet, a global movement must be ignited. While change can start with an individual, a county, a state or a country, change can only take effect if mankind as a whole takes responsibility for our impact on our planet.
