Dear Exhibits Manager:

The History of Science Society (HSS) will hold its annual meeting at the historic Westin William Penn in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from 4-7 November 1999. We will be commemorating our 75th anniversary, and we hope that you will help us celebrate by participating in our book exhibit and/or by advertising in our special semisesquicentennial program guide.

If you exhibit regularly at our meetings, you have probably been pleased with the results. Our members (professional historians and scientists, graduate students, archivists, librarians, and others) are all bibliophiles and are continually seeking to enlarge their personal libraries. If you have not exhibited with us in the past, there are several reasons why you should consider joining us in the future:

  • We expect record attendance at this, our 75th anniversary meeting.

  • Professional academics maintain large personal libraries.

  • Historians of science have wide-ranging reading interests.

  • Many scholars are allowed tax deductions for book purchases.

  • Professors actively consider text adoptions when visiting our book exhibit.

  • The HSS meeting offers a relatively intimate setting for interviewing authors.

You may request information concerning the HSS book exhibit and our delegate packet insertions. If you are interested in placing an advertisement in our anniversary meeting guide, or our quarterly Newsletter, please contact our Publications Manager at this address.

Those of you who participated in last year's HSS/PSA joint meeting in Kansas City, will notice that our fees have not changed. Upon receipt of your reservation, you will be sent registration forms for your attendees. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Book Exhibit Manager.

We look forward to seeing you in November!
