Ruxandra Bachmann, MD
Ruxandra Bachmann-Gagescu, MD, is a board-certified Pediatrician and Medical Geneticist with a strong background in Developmental Biology. In addition to her clinical duties, she spends most of her time in the lab where her research focuses on Ciliopathies in general and Joubert syndrome in particular. She uses the zebrafish as a model organism to understand the function of genes which cause these disorders. Ruxandra received her MD from the University of Geneva, Switzerland. She trained as a Pediatrician in Switzerland and completed the medical genetics residency at the University of Washington. She joined the UW Hindbrain Malformation Research Program during her post-doctoral fellowship in 2009. In her spare time, Ruxandra enjoys the beauty of the Pacific Northwest with her husband and three children.
