High-carbon Steels

Back to Case study
High-carbon steels Lesson/Tutorial   This is a type of plain-carbon steel with the highest concentration of carbon in amounts between 0.60 and 1.4 %.  These steels are very resistant to wear and are capable of holding a sharp cutting edge.  Because of these properties they are used as cutting tools and dies in shaping and forming processes.  They are also used in knives, hacksaw blades, springs, and high-strength wire.
