Stainless steel

Back to Case study
Stainless steel Lesson/Tutorial   These steels are very resistant to corrosion (rusting) because of the addition of at least 11 % chromium.  There are three types of stainless steels depending on the dominant phase present at room temperature: ferritic, martensitic, and austenitic.  The phase present depends on either a heat treatment or addition of specific elements.
