A Message from Sigrid

The message this week comes from Mallory, Monica and John (your new C4C Presidents):

Thank you to everyone who donated their time and their money to Foster C4C this year. This year the Foster community raised more money and volunteered more hours than ever before!

Collectively, we volunteered 4,050 hours for Special Olympics of Washington, the Boys & Girls Club, and other local charities - over 400 more hours than last year!

We also raised $156,000 for Special Olympics of Washington and the Boys & Girls Club. We are dedicating this donation to Kathy DeWenter who helped bring C4C to Foster and continued to support C4C for almost 30 years.

We finished third place in Sports, great job and thank you to all of our athletes!  Special recognition to the following teams:

Gold Medals:

Wen Lee and Sisi Zhou – Doubles Table Tennis

Kelsey Mitchell and Taylor Nordby – Bocce Ball

Silver Medals:

Wen Lee – Singles Table Tennis

Ankit Agarwal – Singles Table Tennis

We are so proud of all the hard work and generosity resulting from our community's C4C efforts.  This could not have been done without your hours, dollars, and dedication to making our community awesome. THANK YOU!

A special thank you also to the C4C Board for all their dedication and hard work:

GLOBAL BUSINESS FORUM

Global Business Forum Themes for 2018/19

Please see below the themes for upcoming year. Remember: Taking one Global Business Forum course will fulfill one international business professional development requirement for your degree.

Fall 2018: International Trade Policy- Tariffs and Sanction

This quarter will take an in-depth look at the critical role that trade between nations plays in the perpetuation of business across the globe.  We will invite leaders to discuss how they deal with trade regulations, how they manage the import and export of valued goods and products, and complex interplay between trade and macroeconomic forces in business.

Winter 2019: Doing Business with Central and South America

The GBF will host executives who have worked in Central or South America,  or have built and maintained significant relationships with companies in this area to share their insights about doing business in Central and South America.  Executives will be asked to compare and contrast their experiences in Central/South America with business experiences in the US and other countries, to discuss and identify opportunities in this exciting area, as well as the possible pitfalls of doing work in Central/South America.

Spring 2019: Resilient Global Leadership

Executives are often accustomed to sharing their success stories—but we all know that failures and setbacks are often an even greater source of learning and innovation.  So, we are asking highly successful global executives to share the stories that don’t make it onto their resumes and into the press releases.  From cultural faux pas to strategic missteps, we’re interested in hearing how leaders have learned from their global mistakes.  We’ll also be asking leaders to share how they maintain their optimism and drive despite the risks and stress of doing business around the world.
