A Message from Dan
I am writing the newsletter greeting this week because Sigrid incurred a concussion and must remain quietly at home and largely immobile for the next several days. With MBAA VP elections coming up, I want to thank all the members of the 2018 class who have served in MBAA positions this past year for your contribution to enhancing the Foster MBA experience. I look forward to working with members of the 2019 class who will step into MBAA roles and all the people who contribute to the MBA experience through a wide variety of both official and unofficial efforts to make this a richer experience for all.

Field Study
Class of 2018- Field Study Sponsor/Student Reception Tuesday, February 27 in Douglas Forum
Field Study is the opportunity to consult on an MBA scoped project at a company vetted by Foster for academic credit. Companies will be invited to this career-fair style event to introduce their Field Study projects, and speak with prospective students. MBA students are encouraged to attend this event to learn more about the projects and make connections with the sponsoring companies. If you choose to move forward, you will form a team of 4-5 students and apply for the Field Study project(s) you are interested in (no more than 3 per team). If your team is selected, you will work on the project spring quarter, and you will earn 4-credits (BA578). You will be charged tuition accordingly. Field Study projects fulfil a practical experience requirement. These projects are open to the class of 2018.
Please use this link to RSVP for the reception. For more information please contact Jen Bauermeister.
Foster Rankings
The Financial Times recently released a new rating and one of the “hard” quantitative rankings categories is Research. Here, the Foster School was ranked number 3 in the world (up from number 7 last year).
The top five were:
1. Wharton
2. Duke
3. Foster
4. Cornell
5. Tie (Stanford and Columbia)
Another important quantitative rankings relates to job placement. We were ranked number 1 in the U.S. for MBA Job Placement!
