Vitamins

Vitamin D

Vitamin D supplementation for breastfed infants can cease once complementary foods that meet the infant’s vitamin D needs are introduced or when infant formula exceeds 500 mL per day. For infants receiving a combination of breastmilk and formula, formula consumption can be monitored by a health care provider to determine when vitamin D supplementation is no longer necessary. (Holt et al, 2017); AAP 2012)
