Computing Services

The Information Technology group provides services and support to SDRG staff, faculty, and affiliated researchers. Our mission is to be as helpful and effective as possible providing secure, stable, and cost-effective computing solutions.

Windows Terminal Server

The SDRG is equipped with three high-powered terminal servers that are available without charge for the following uses:

  • Offsite Network Access: Allows SDRG staff to access the network and applicable software from any location. Authorized users may also use the terminal servers to access project tracking databases from offsite. This service is automatically enabled for all SDRG staff.
  • Statistical Analysis: Allows users to run simple or complex analyses remotely. Access to the analysis servers and software is available to SDRG staff, students and faculty at the School of Social Work, and other researchers upon request.
  • Collaboration: Offers a secure location for collaboration between researchers at multiple locations.

DMobile: Remote Interviewing

SRD uses a software package called DMobile for computer assisted interviews conducted in the field. This software allows interviews to be conducted on a laptop without an internet or network connection and then uploaded to the SRD servers over a secure wireless connection. Feel free to contact us if you are interested in using this capability on your next research project. Pricing available upon request.

Current users, click here for DMobile User Instructions.

Support

The SDRG IT staff provides support and training for Windows Terminal Server access and remote interviewing using DMobile software. If you have any questions or issues, please contact sdrgtech@u.washington.edu or call 206-221-4647.
