SMC Tree list generation database tutorial

A tutorial describing the concepts, methods, and algorithms of the tree list generation database has been written. An understanding of these topics is of fundamental importance for the correct use of the tree list generation database and its software, as well as for the correct interpretation of the simulated stands or tree lists generated using the tree list generation database. The tutorial provides a detailed introduction to the tree list generation database and its typical use. The primary functions of the tree list generation database are demonstrated through a series of examples. The examples fall into two categories: using a tree list generation database and tree list generation database utilities.

To obtain the tutorial, download the .zip file tutorial.zip. This file must be unzipped before the tutorial may be examined. The contents of the tutorial distribution are briefly described in the file contents.txt.

The files used for the examples performed in the tutorial and the directory structure for the examples are contained in the .zip file examples.zip. This file must also be unzipped to obtain the examples files and directories.

The program unzip.exe may be used to unzip these Zip files if desired by using the command: "unzip <file>", where file is one of the Zip files. Other programs may also be used to unzip these files if they are available, e.g., winzip.
