Why Was I Adopted?

The reason why a parent gives up her child for adoption varies from every person and situation. One reason maybe due to the age of the birth mother may be at a very young age. At this young age the mother may not be ready to take on responsibilities and she may not be able to support the baby mentally, physically, and emotionally. It is also possible that the pregnancy was against her religion, the father or family may not have wanted to help in raising the child, and there might have been a lack of finances. Other reasons why children are given up for adoption are because of some unexpected pregnancies. With an unexpected pregnancy, it can stop the mother or father from reaching their potential goal or again can interfere financially. Always remember that the mother usually has the best intentions and mother knows best. ("Why Do Parents Put Their Children Up For Adoption")

The reasons why a child would be accepted through adoption may be for several reasons. Some married couples could be infertile which means they do not have the ability to produce a child naturally. Even though they might be infertile they still want to be parents, so going through the adopting process is a great alternative. For homosexual relationships it is not humanly possible to produce children together, therefore these couples reside to adopting. Those people who are single have the need to be parents also. It may not be in their interest to have a relationship, but still want to be able to have the opportunity of becoming a parent. The thought of having a child and helping a child get out of adoption seems to them as a good thing to do. ("Adoption")
