Current Projects: I've been in this program since 1993. This program did help me a lot and it's still helping me a lot. Upward Bound is very good program. The students here in Upward Bound are very lucky and I hope they are taking advantage of this program. A lot of other students who tried to get in couldn't get in. I consider myself lucky because I'm in this program.

I picked this picture because it represents me and my country.

Favorite WWW site: Sanrio Characters.

Background (who I am?): Filipino, for most of us who's Flip we like to call ourselves Pinay and Pinoy. I've only been here in Seattle for only six years, I came from the Philippines. I started Middle School here and right now I'm in high school going to be a senior next fall of 1996. The First time I came here I thought it would be hard for me to adjust because everything is different, and I was right. Probably with out my families' support I would never have made it. I have loving parents and two wonderful sisters who sometime get on my nerves, but sisters are supposed to be like that. Below I put a clip from Encarta about religion and language for my background.

Religion

Of the Philippine population, about 84 percent are Roman Catholics, about 4 percent are Muslims, and about 10 percent are Protestants or of other denominations, including the Philippine Independent Church, or Aglipayans, a schismatic group of Roman Catholics founded about 1902 by Gregorio Aglipay, a Filipino priest.

Language

The official language of the Philippines is Filipino, formerly spelled Pilipino, which is based on Tagalog. The country lacks a common language, however, and English is commonly used for educational, governmental, and commercial purposes. Spanish, formerly an official language, is spoken by a dwindling minority of the population. About 80 languages and dialects are spoken in the islands, of which about ten, belonging to the Austronesian language family, are of regional importance. [1]

Personal Interests/Hobbies: My interest or hobbies are to collect Sanrio Characters especially “Hello Kitty” . My hobbies not only to collect “Hello Kitty” but to hang out with my friends or go shopping.
