Current Projects:

My current project is attending a summer program at the University of Washington. This program is called Upward Bound and this is my second year. There are six classes that you take during the summer and one of them is an elective in which you choose the class that interests you the most. The technology class exposes students to different ways of communicating and allows them to have the chance to use the Internet and Encarta. Students in this program can have the experience of going to school on a University campus and get help on college questions.

Biography:

Ruins of the Temple of Angkor Wat

This is a section of Angkor Wat in central Cambodia, built 1112-52. Originally a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu, Angkor Wat is the largest temple in the world, rising as high as 60 m (200 ft).

Greg Davis/The Stock Market [1]

I was born in Battambang,a western town in Cambodia. “ Bŕtdâmbâng is divided by the seasonally navigable Sângkę River, which flows through Tonle Sap [2].” I left Cambodia in 1984 and came to Seattle in 1985. We immigrated to the U.S because of the war and poverty that plagued the country for many years. My parents wanted a better life and the only way to survive was to leave a country which they knew and loved for so long. At our arrival in Seattle, we had friends who graciously help us begin our new life in America. I can't tell you how difficult it was for us to get used to the different way of living but somehow we managed. Someday I hope to go back to my country and visit the temple, Angkor Wat.

Now our lives are easier and Seattle has become a more comfortable home to live. One of the great things Seattle offers is diversity and environmental awareness. If you go into to downtown you could see very little garbage and litter. I love the view of Mt. Ranier and visiting the Space Needle. Seattle is a great city to live in and visit and once in a while it has wonderful weather.

Interests/Hobbies:

One of the things I like to do during my free time is reading a John Saul novel or a good classical literature. My favorite book by John Saul is Shadow which I thought was probably the best book he's ever written, until I read his other books. Besides from having my eyes glued to pages of a book I also enjoy the relaxation of drawing. My artwork would not be considered masterpieces but I like the idea of creating an idea or imagination into an image formed on paper. I think I'm probably one of those people who doesn't have many hobbies.

Learning how to ski is one of the things I hope to do later on in my life. Meanwhile, I enjoy hiking, biking, and sometimes even gardening. On the weekends, I usually spend my time indoors, reading or starting on a new drawing. I like sketching portraits of my family or try to duplicate a scenery I found from a magazine. One of my new interests is learning how to play the piano.
