I take 5 courses. One of the courses
is Spanish. The materials are good—we
use a textbook and we also watch a movie. Every day we do the same
things in class. We check our homework,
watch the movie, answer questions, and then practice something. It
sounds boring, but it’s not because the instructor is
great. We can see that he’s interested in
us. He likes to teach and he comes to class every day with a very organized lesson
plan. He also has a lot of knowledge about
Spanish culture. The problem is the other students. This is my first
Spanish course, but a lot of the other
students are from Mexico, so they already speak Spanish perfectly!
A lot of the time, they speak to the instructor and
I can’t understand what they’re saying. How can I get a
good grade in this course when they’re so much better than I
am? I want an opportunity to practice
basic Spanish. I don’t know why they’re in my class.
They should take a different course,
like French.
