Latino National Survey

WISER is happy to be hosting the Latino National Survey (LNS) project. The LNS is a major "national" telephone survey of 8600 Latino residents of the United States, seeking a broad understanding of the qualitative nature of Latino political and social life in America. All Latinos, not just citizens or voters were sampled to be interviewed for approximately 40 minutes on a wide range of political questions, conducted in English and Spanish. A major part of the project is the Latino National Contextual Database (LNCD), which includes census, economic and demographic data, as well as political and educational data.

We appreciate the support of the National Science Foundation, who funded the collection of the contextual data. We appreciate the support of the following organizations who collectively funded the survey data collection:

  • Annie E. Casey Foundation
  • Carnegie Corporation
  • Ford Foundation
  • Hewlett Foundation
  • Irvine Foundation
  • Joyce Foundation
  • Kellogg Foundation
  • National Science Foundation
  • Russell Sage Foundation
  • Texas A&M University: MALRC, PERG

A major roll-out presentation of the LNS occurred recently at the Annual Meeting of the American Political Science Association. As promised by the co-principle investigators: Luis Fraga, John A. Garcia, Rodney Hero, Michael Jones-Correa, Valerie Martinez-Ebers, Gary Segura, the survey instrument is now available below in both English and Spanish versions.

LNS_users: a listserve for users of the LNS

In order to facilitate the use of LNS data by end-users, WISER offers an unmoderated listserve, called LNS_users, to which end-users can send research inquiries and comments. Subscription to LNS_users is free.

If you are interested in signing up, please click here. You will be directed to the listserv info page which includes instruction on how to join LNS_users. For those outside the UW community, you may join using the email address of your choice. You will receive a confirmation email along with a password that will allow you to manage your LNS_users subscription.
