PEDS 607 – Pediatric Rheumatology – Boise, ID

Boise is the capital and most populous city in the state of Idaho. Boise is situated in southwestern Idaho, on the Boise River, and is 41 miles east of the Oregon border and 110 miles north of the Nevada border. Boise, nicknamed the City of Trees, has relatively mild winters, and well as hot, dry summers. National Geographic named Boise, Idaho one of the top mountain biking towns in the entire country.

Downtown Boise is the cultural center and home to many small businesses alongside high-rise buildings. Centrally, 8th street contacts a pedestrian zone, with sidewalk cafes, hops, restaurants, and boutiques.  Boise is also home to Boise State University, and its infamous blue football field, dubbed “The Smurf Turf”.

Credentialing

All student credentialing and onboarding for clerkships at St. Luke’s Health System are handled via myClinicalExchange, a web-based platform, and there is a small cost for use of the program.

The Idaho WWAMI office will add your rotation dates to myClinicalExchange, and the St. Luke’s Health System team will approve your rotation and review any onboarding documents. Please be sure to respond to all requests in a timely manner. All scheduling will continue be completed through the UWSOM’s registrar’s office, so do not make any changes or request rotations via myClinicalExchange.

Housing

Students are responsible for arranging their own housing during this clerkship, which you will request through UW SOM WWAMI Student Travel. Please contact GoWWAMI with any questions.

Schedule

The elective is predominantly outpatient-based. Students will attend clinic on Tuesday through Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM.
