PEDS 646 – Pediatric Clerkship Walla Walla, WA
Located in the ancestral lands of the Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla tribes in southeast Washington, Walla Walla offers a unique mix of recreational and clinical learning experiences.
Renowned for winemaking, Walla Walla boasts more than 130 wineries and draws visitors from around the world. The fertile land also produces everything from wheat to asparagus, strawberries, and of course our famous sweet onions. The small town vibe and historic Main Street offer opportunities to explore vintage shops, cafes, bookstores, tasting rooms, award-winning restaurants, and a thriving farmers market.
Outside recreation is not hard to find with miles of scenic roads for cycling, Bluewood ski area an hour away, and mushroom foraging and hiking in the Blue Mountains.
Clinically, the pediatric clerkship in Walla Walla offers an opportunity to learn in a rural setting where we practice traditional full-scope pediatrics including inpatient general pediatrics, newborn care, and outpatient clinic. Our clinic also hosts the Seattle Children’s Pediatric Cardiology group once a month for a satellite clinic offering the opportunity to learn from pediatric cardiology for a day during the rotation.
