Calculus with Analytic Geometry III Deadlines
April 18: Group Membership and Progress Report The Letter
A contract for consultation from the Tuft Hunter, Personal Assistant. (Adapted from Neal Brand, Logistics of Group Work
You are to self-select groups of two to three students. You are to inform me of your groups members and make a progress report on your early findings by April 18. The students are often apprehensive about the grading of group projects, but you get to determine the distribution of the points for your group. For example, if your group of three receives 50 on an assignment, then you have a total of 3 x 50 = 150 points to distribute among yourselves. You fill out a form, sign it, and return it to me. For the most part, the students split the points evenly, occassionally they allocate the points differently. Assigning Points to Papers
I use a grading rubric to assess your projects. I recommend reading the rubric so that you know exactly what I am looking for. In particular, proper citations for ideas is essential whether its consultation with an expert at the TLC, Wikepedia, or your textbook. In the mean time, refeshing your knowledge of mathematical writing is a good idea. I continue to recommend Annalisa Crannell's excellent advice. |
