Resigned from from his professorship and priesthood

Appointed professor at the University of Vienna

His decision to marry Ida Lieben was blocked by Austrian authorities.He was forced to resign from his professorship and then moved to Leipzig with his wife.

He was allowed to return to Univeristy of Vienna as an unsalaried lecturer
