The Alter G® Anti-Gravity Treadmill® is a specialized treadmill with unweighting technology. The treadmill can reduce gravity's impact by selecting any weight between 20% and 100% of your body weight by 1% increments.

UW Medicine Sports Medicine Center at Husky Stadium uses the treadmill for:

  • Return to running after lower limb injury.
  • Rehabilitation for the runner with a stress fracture / stress reaction.
  • High volume healthy runners who are prone to injury, but need to keep up their mileage with less impact
  • Cross-training the injured runner with the most sport specific modality (compared to deep water running, elliptical, or cycling, running mechanics on the Alter G are most similar to land running)
  • Rehabilitation following injury or surgery of the lower limb.
