Kirkland Arts Center (KAC) is seeking an experienced, full-time Events and Marketing Specialist to join our collaborative and creative team. Join our tight-knit nonprofit community and contribute to a vibrant, arts-minded culture on the Eastside. For over 50 years, KAC has served Kirkland and the Eastside and now offers a wide array of visual arts classes and contemporary art exhibitions, all within the historic landmark Peter Kirk Building. Our small staff values cross-departmental collaboration and affords each staff member a lot of freedom to innovate.

Required Skills & Responsibilities

Special Events Management

Kirkland Arts Center presents several major events a year: Kirkland Artist Studio Tour (KAST) on Mother’s day weekend in May; ARTbeat, a benefit art auction in October; and a Holiday Art Market & Open House in the month of December. The Events & Marketing Specialist will serve a primary role in the coordination of all major organizational events; other events may be developed as required. Special Event Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Plan & implement all special events logistics, including developing and adhering to event timelines and budgets, event material production and public relations, and overseeing staff and volunteers on day of event(s).
  • Cultivate and expand special event sponsorship leads and programs.
  • Develop and maintain event databases; manage data related to attendees and volunteers.
  • With Development Director, manage procurement process, generate income, and grow attendance for fundraising events.
  • Post-event activities and follow-up including reporting, tracking of goals and metrics, and communication in coordination with staff.
  • Assist with KAC Gallery Exhibit Events and Rentals.

Marketing and Communications Activities

This person will work closely with staff to develop and execute a marketing plan to meet the goals of KAC. The position requires coordinating, developing, and focusing all marketing efforts and the organization’s identity, to include: general strategy, social media, website management, digital marketing, email marketing, collateral materials, public relations, and advertising. Graphic Design skills are a strong plus and additional projects associated with KAC’s Marketing goals may be assigned as necessary.

Development Activities

This role reports to the Development Director and serves an integral role in achieving the organization’s annual fundraising goals. The Events and Marketing Specialist will assist the Development Director with donor tracking, reporting, strategy and engagement as it relates to KAC’s ARTbeat benefit and other development-related assignments as necessary.

Skills and Experience

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are imperative. The position requires the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with a strong attention to detail, display initiative, demonstrate independent judgment, and exercise discretion. The position will be integral in the areas of event management, marketing, and donor and community relations. Proficiency using Google applications, Microsoft Office, and Constant Contact (or comparable email marketing application) is required. Experience with Graphic Design (Adobe Creative Suite) and utilizing a donor (or other CRM) database is strongly preferred.

Requirements Include

Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 2-4 years of related experience coordinating 200+ person events in a business or nonprofit setting. Benefit auction and development experience is a strong plus. Demonstrated ability to manage complex events, work collaboratively with staff and volunteers, communicate effectively orally and in writing, and organize and execute assignments under pressure in a professional manner.
