The IVA program and the Jake are hosting a live telecast screening of the Creative Time Summit from Washington DC. The Creative Time Summit is the world’s largest international conference on art and social change. This is the 3rd year that we are hosting this event here at the UW.
The topic of the 2016 Summit is Occupy the Future. “The Summit itself offers a platform for citizen-led strategies and grassroots movements working within, as well as disrupting, electoral politics.” (from CTS) At the Summit, and here in Seattle as well, we would like to pose the question: As we work to push forward the ideals of human rights in practice, what does it mean to actually occupy power in a future as yet unwritten?
If you have a few hours to spare this weekend, we need your energy, ideas and participation to host the screening, get the word out, and connect to interested students and student organizations.
All UW events are from noon to 4pm in ART122 in the Art Building.
Screening of live-stream of the Summit presentations + action buttons + resource center to connect with on-campus social action student organizations + other activities
