Strange Coupling 2017 applications are now open!
All UW SoA+AH+D students (undergraduate and graduate) from every discipline should apply.
What is Strange Coupling?
Strange Coupling is a student-run University of Washington School of Art + Art History + Design tradition. For 14 years it has bridged the gap between students and the Seattle art community by pairing students and professional artists for a collaborative project. The work they create is then exhibited in a unique, off-campus location. In years past, artists like Gary Hill, Susie Lee, Paul Berger, Anne Fenton, Julia Freeman, Serrah Russell, Alice Gosti, and Thunderpussy have participated, among many others!
Apply at our website by Feb. 15th. There is a short survey, portfolio submission, and auction donation (the Strange Coupling auction is an event that raises funds for the exhibition; a donation of a student’s work can be in any medium– written work, print, audio, sculpture, video). The artist pairing announcement party will be on March 10th at the Jacob Lawrence Gallery.
