The ideal candidate knows their way around the Adobe Creative Suite, likes rising to a challenge, enjoys working collaboratively, and has a passion for art and design. Killer dance moves and love of office dogs are not required but highly encouraged. This is a part-time, paid internship open to applicants still in school, with office hours at our head-quarters location in Capitol Hill.

The Graphic Intern works with the Art Director to learn our branding narrative and create graphic design across The Derschang Group’s restaurant and bar holdings. Workflow will include creating and updating seasonal menus, merchandise and marketing materials projects, and seasonal signage for special events. The Graphic Intern will have a hand in creating other location visual branding as needed. This is a part-time, entry-level position that is open to students still pursuing their education with the possibility of becoming full time after graduation, depending on performance review. The Graphic Intern is overseen by and works in conjunction with the Art Director.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Work with Art Director to create and maintain a strong sense of visual branding at each location through menu design, poster design, retail merchandise, and additional signage.
  • Oversee editing, printing, cutting and delivery of all menus as needed.
  • Maintain and organize copies of active and retired design work, including menus, merchandise and signage, in cloud-sharing network and update to web sites as needed.
  • Work with Art Director to create and update all visual merchandising in each location seasonally, including but not limited to: shirts, postcards, stickers, matches, mugs, etc.
  • Create signage, posters, table tents and menus for special events as needed.
  • Create weekly employee e-mailer with relevant updates and information.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledgeable about typography
  • Ability to work collaboratively and with flexibility
Schedule and Work Environment

The Graphic Intern is expected to work 20 hours a week via a flexible schedule, but devote additional hours if available and necessary to complete required tasks. The Derschang Group is open to designers who are still completing their degrees and looking to balance part-time employment while they are still in school.

Compensation

The position is salaried and DOE. All raises, bonuses, and/or incentives will be tied to specific performance, which will be reviewed semi-annually.
