internship – Gray Sky Gallery

Gray Sky Gallery is a contemporary fine art gallery located in the historic Pioneer District of Seattle.

Job Type: Unpaid- art gallery/studio artists Internship (school credit offered upon request by intern).  Minimum 10 hours/week for a 3 month period.  Position available immediately.

Compensation:  Intern will receive coaching/mentoring, and learn encaustic painting, mixed media collage and resin work.  There is also the potential for intern to host an art show with their work at the end of the internship.

Intern’s Responsibilities:

  • Engage with visitors in the gallery, and facilitate art sales
  • Assist in managing gallery operations i.e. filing and online inventory management
  • Assist with installation of artwork for shows
  • Assist during First Thursday Art Walk and events
  • Help maintain website, and social media network presence
  • Minor/routine maintenance of the gallery
  • Assist with studio work (encaustic painting, collage, acrylic painting, resin, installing hardware on paintings)

Requirements:

  • Studio Arts, Marketing, Hospitality, Business/Accounting, Art History, or Communications Majors (Preferred)
  • Passion for art/actively involved in the art community
  • Outgoing, engaging personality
  • Strong work ethic and ability to complete tasks in an organized timely manner
  • Experience with social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
