We want to celebrate and honor the struggles and the monumental feats that women have accomplished in the last century. Artists will be asked to take a moment in time from American women’s history and create art inspired from that moment. Inspiration can be taken from a photograph, an article, movement, person or concept. Artists will include some information or representation of their original inspiration for the piece they’ve created. The primary focus of the art exhibit will be on Washington State’s history of the Suffragette Movement, and secondarily on American history of the Suffrage Movement, and then expanding the timeline to include a broader interpretation of American women’s history, from the Suffrage movement to modern-day, to provide a diverse and abundant inspiration for artists to explore.
