Art Collections Cataloguing Intern

The Art Collections Cataloguer Intern will assist with cataloguing, image scanning and data entry of pop culture photographic and archival materials in the private art collection.

Projects and Responsibilities

  • Create individual object records in collections management database including basic tombstone information:  artist, title, date, medium, dimensions
  • Scan and attach images of the object to collections management database
  • Complete basic condition examination and summary recommendations in collections management database, including assigning conservation priority level
  • Rehousing object into archival storage materials for placement in storage

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Museum studies graduate student; specializing in collections care/registration or conservation
  • Interest in art collections management, especially photographic materials, prints and negatives
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Comfortable taking direction and asking for guidance when necessary
  • Handling of photographic materials and basic condition reporting techniques preferred
  • Experience with data entry
  • Experience with relational databases preferred
  • Film history knowledge a plus
