The American Sign Language club at the UW would like to invite you to our upcoming event, “Deaf Artists Spotlight”. There are 4 Deaf artists featured, and they will be having a discussion about their careers, the ways in which their identities influence their art, and highlighting some of their favorite creations!
Tuesday, May 18th. 3-4pm PDT
Our featured artists are:
-Kellie Martin (they/them): A Deaf and Queer artist, a graduate at Savannah College of Art and Design, and the Art and Design Director for Deaf Spotlight
-Jessica Flores (she/her): a Latina comedian, Deaf advocate, illustrator, improviser, occasional YouTuber, “retired” graffiti artist, and more
– Brittany Castle (she/her): Deaf graphic artist and owner of business, 58 Creativity
– Isabel Laínez (she/her): Latina graphic designer & Illustrator
This event will be primarily conducted in American Sign Language. English voice interpretation and English captioning will be provided. The event will be recorded and made available asynchronously on the SDC website (sdc.asuw.org) after the event.
