Summary

The Production Artist supports the mission of The Museum of Flight, by assisting in the design and production of graphics and marketing materials in various media, as well as producing supporting materials for other departments within the Museum. This entry-level position works in coordination with the Graphic Designer and the Marketing team as a whole. This role also assists with digital and physical file organization and archiving. The Production Artist must uphold industry best practices and standards regarding image usage, rights, and credits and follow Museum’s brand standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Produce and maintain various types of graphics in collaboration with the Marketing team, following Museum standards and brand guidelines as assigned for print and digital applications.
  • Fulfill internal graphics request orders in coordination with the Graphic Designer, following all guidelines and procedures.
  • Collaborates with the Graphic Designer and direct supervisor in maintaining current standard brand templates for collateral and various other marketing pieces and internal Museum forms.
  • Complete final press-ready checks and processes for sending files to vendors or other third parties.
  • Assist the Graphic Designer with image file storage and archives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree or higher required in Graphic Design, Communication Design, or a related field.
  • At least one (1) year of design and production experience in a work, freelance, or formal internship including clear demonstration of design and creativity from conception through completion.
  • Video editing/production experience with software such as Premiere and After Effects, a plus.

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of marketing collateral and graphics production methods and time frames.
  • Proficient knowledge of Mac OS platform.
  • Good sense of quality design, production, and creativity.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS, a plus.

Skills

  • Proven computer graphic and design layout skills using Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Displays good communication skills, both in writing and verbally.

Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing tasks and multiple projects.
  • Ability to work with and address diverse audiences.
  • Innovative in practice, remaining open to new ideas, and able and willing to adjust technique as needed.

  • The schedule for this position will be determined by the Supervisor.

  • Onsite attendance is essential to perform some of the duties of this position.

Paid-Time Off

Our paid time-off plans include 2 weeks of accrued sick leave and 2 weeks of vacation (80 hours each) per year, 10 paid holidays, and 2 floating holidays.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $22.00 – $30.00 per hour depending on experience.
