Hi UW Art + Design!
Are you interested in narrative medicine or healthcare’s intersection with the arts? Portraits of Humanity is a student-run project that tries to capture the lived experiences of those living with chronic illness. Art and narrative writing captures a portrait of humanity — one of acceptance, perseverance, and resilience. Our project matches students interested in healthcare with volunteer participants living with chronic illness in three one-on-one interviews, intending to create a singular ‘portrait’ of the participant’s life story. From these conversations, a written narrative and an accompanying art piece will be presented to the participant as a meaningful and personalized representation of their unique story.
